A Polyrhythmic Epiphany Collection

This collection is born from revisiting Aaron Copland's Music and Imagination in which he speaks of rhythm as not merely a mental exercise but basic to the body's rhythmic impulse. "This basic impulse is exteriorized with an insistence that knows no measure, ranging from a self-hypnotic monotony to a riotous frenzy of subconsciously pounding. Second, an unparalleled ingenuity in the spinning out of unequal metrical units in the unadorned rhythmic line. And lastly, and most significant, a polyrhythmic structure arrived at through the combining of strongly independent blocks of sound." And so, the lines of the foreground of the works of A Polyrhythmic Epiphany collection are not mathematically measured, but rather inspired by rhythmic gesture, the mid-ground functions in much the same way as the development section of a sonata form in which fragments relating to the themes are presented in varying configurations, the background a polyrhythmic structure of
